Calgary Emergency Food Hamper

Delivery of emergency food hampers to seven depots in Calgary for pick-up by families and individuals who have requested a hamper by calling the Food Bank's Hamper Request Line.
Service offers:
a Hamper Request Line where clients must call to request emergency food
emergency food hampers for families and individuals in a temporary crisis situation
emergency food hampers on one day's notice for pick-up at depot sites
emergency food to qualified self-referral clients for their first three hampers; additional hampers (to maximum of seven) need a referral from a community agency
emergency food assistance to over 300 service providers who help their clients involved in programs / services / supports
temporary programs to distribute seasonal or occasional supplier surpluses (seasonal fruits, grocery items) through vouchers included with regular hampers
hampers which contain a nutritionally balanced, seven day supply of food
extra milk for low-income families with children and teens
gluten-free hampers for applicants with Celiac Disease
depots in the community for hamper pick-ups
Christmas meal top-ups (all items for a Christmas meal added to the regular December hamper)

Referral required for Hampers 4 - 7 (in 12 month period - must be 30 days in between hampers). Hampers 1-3 no referral required. Referrals are accepted from any kind of service provider. Contact Intake Supervisor for information on how to refer clients.
