Patients can walk in or book an appointment at the Pharmacist Walk in Clinic at Shoppers Drug Mart for healthcare services that can be provided by a pharmacist.
After assesment by the pharmacist, the following are examples of care services that can be provided at the Pharmacist Walk In Clinic at Shoppers Drug Mart:
- prescriptions for minor illness including but not limited to: pink eye, urinary tract infection, heartburn, painful periods, sore throat, cough, flu, allergies, skin conditions (e.g. acne, skin rash, cold sores, athlete's foot, warts, shingles), minor injuries (e.g. bug bites, minor burns, sprains, minor cuts or wounds, tick bites)
- management of medications: prescription renewals, prescription adjustments and adaptations
- receive lab requisitions
- management of Chronic conditions with care plans for COPD, heart disease, asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, and mental health (e.g. depression, generalized anxiety disorder, insomnia, ADHD, bipolar)
- point of care testing for strep throat, A1c, blood glucose, cholesterol & lipid, influenza, and COVID-19
- travel Health assessments to recommend prescriptions and/or travel vaccines
- administration of publicly funded and non-publicly funded vaccines
- addiction services including nalaxone kits, opioid agonist therapy, smoking cessation
