This team works with community agencies and AHS partners to address ongoing and emerging health concerns within the community.
Our community work focuses on:
- youth substance use (nicotine, cannabis)
- financial strain
- home-based injuries (older adult falls, fire prevention, infant & toddler home safety, poison prevention
- risky behaviour (youth risky behaviour, risky play for children, suicide prevention)
- traffic safety (distracted driving, pedestrian safety, active transportation, helmet use, child safety seats)
Services provided include:
- Partnership development and community development facilitation
- Workshops for families with young children
- home safety
- child safety seats
- Workshops for professionals
- family support workers and health care providers to help professionals recognize safety risks in the home and support parents in creating safe spaces for their children
- child safety seat workshops for agency staff
