Bullying Prevention Information - Immigrant Youth & Families
Programs for children and youth of immigrant families that attempt to reduce the incidence of bullying, a form of violence among children, on school playgrounds, in neighbourhoods, in homes and on the Internet, Most bullying prevention programs are school based and target students. Bullying can be physical, verbal, or psychological; and involves intentional, repeated hurtful acts, words and other behaviour such as name-calling, threatening or shunning.

Child Care / Day Care Information - Immigrant Youth & Families
Licensed programs that provide supervised care within designated facilities for children of immigrant families during some portion of a 24-hour day. Staff for approved day care centres must meet defined educational requirements; the program must ensure specified adult/child ratios; and the facility must meet building, fire and zoning codes. Services may include recreational and developmental activities and snacks and/or meals, as appropriate.

Programs that provide assistance for people who believe that they have been treated unfairly or denied normal privileges based on their age, sex, race or ethnic origin, nationality, religion, disability, sexual orientation or marital status and in Canada, source of income, same-sex partnership status, criminal conviction, political belief and family status may be included.
Divorce Information - Immigrant Youth & Families
Programs that provide assistance for children youth and families of ethnic origin who are initiating or responding to a suit for an annulment of their marriage, a legal separation, or a divorce, These programs may also discuss and represent the individual’s interests regarding distribution of property assets, parenting issues regarding any children, and support programs for children/youth experiencing their parents marital annulment, a legal separation, or a divorce.
Doctor / Physician Information - Immigrant Youth & Families
Licensed medical professionals who diagnose illnesses and prescribe and administer treatment for children and youth of immigrant families suffering from injury or disease. Physicians examine patients; obtain medical histories; order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests; and counsel patients on diet, hygiene and preventive health care. Surgeons are physicians who specialize in the treatment of injury, disease and deformity through operations. Physicians work in one or more specialties.

Safety programs stress the cardinal rule that youth should never give out personal information, send their picture to people they meet on the Internet or agree to meet strangers in person.

Programs that provide educational experiences and activities for children of immigrant families, supplement parental care and home play and stimulate intellectual, social, emotional and motor skills development. Activities generally include pre-academic skill development such as shape, colour and number recognition; outdoor play; observation of nature and pets; dancing and rhythms; block building; playhouse activities; games; simple excursions; stories and picture books.

Programs that help youth of immigrant families who are experiencing pregnancy to resolve any social or personal issues that have arisen as a result of their pregnancy or the prospect of parenthood, and help them understand their conflicting emotions, put their feelings in perspective, evaluate their options and make a decision that right is for them.

Refugee Information - Immigrant Youth & Families
Programs that administer the application, adjudication appeals process provide legal and other assistance throughout the refugee application process to refugees who want to enter and/or reside in Canada. Refugee claimants within Canada are entitled to remain in Canada until their case has been heard although, in some circumstances, they may be confined to a detention facility until a decision is reached.

Programs that provide information and/or services to children and youth of immigrant families that deal with the topic of safety and may include diversity issues, hate-bias issues, and gang violence issues.
Scholarship Information - Immigrant Youth & Families
Programs that provide or assist children and youth of immigrant families to apply for awards which usually involve money and/or reduced tuition. Included are both needs-based scholarships which are awarded to outstanding students who are in financial need and honorary scholarships which are awarded on the basis of merit alone and normally carry a nominal monetary award.
